Editors: re-read articles, check all graphics, push out content
Staffers: a little self-reflection
Please respond to the following questions, print out your answers, and hand it in to me by the end of class.
1. Please reflect on your best work this semester. What made the work good? What engaged you in the process?
2. Please reflect on a time when you were off your game. What happened? What did you need from me or an editor that could have helped you?
3. Discuss 5-7 ways that The Voice could draw readers to the website. Facebook, twitter, instagram, word of mouth, etc. Think big but keep it simple.
4. Look over the Briefs list and suggest 5-7 new ideas for next year. Think about what worked for you and what you didn't love. Remember that we need more adequate coverage in sports.
5. As a reader and staff member, what else would you like to see The Voice do? Article topics, article formats, you name it.
6. Any last questions, comments, concerns, complaints, suggestions, insights?
This is a place for the staff of the MA Voice to engage in on-line discussion about issues relating to and inspiring good writing, reading and journalism.
Goal for staff: Make each day your masterpiece. You have to apply yourself each day to becoming a little better. By applying yourself to the task of becoming a little better each and every day over a period of time, you will become a lot better. Only then will you be able to approach being the best you can be.
Goal for editors & advisor: Define success for those under your leadership as total commitment and effort to the team's welfare. Then show it yourself with your own effort and performance. Most of those you lead will do the same. Those who don't should be encouraged to look for a new team. — John Wooden
